The Central Virginia Genealogical Association (CVGA) was formed in July 1977, to encourage, foster, and organize genealogical research, teaching, publishing, education, and recording. CVGA received its charter as a non-stock, non-profit corporation from the Corporation Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia on 21 September, 1977.<\/p>\n

CVGA’s primary geographical focus is on the old counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Hanover, and Orange; that is, the present Piedmont counties of Albemarle, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Buckingham, Campbell, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Hanover, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange, and the Shenandoah Valley counties of Augusta, Page, Rockingham, and Shenandoah.<\/p>\n
