The historical society is a non-profit educational organization that seeks to study, preserve, and promote the history of the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October Meeting,\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1941744880\">Saturday, October 11, 2014<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>James Langhorne, will present his book, \u201cThe Virginia Langhornes: a History.\u201d The book documents all the descendants of Capt. John Langhorne (who came to Virginia about 1668), through the first generation born in the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century. The family estate, Mirador, is in western Albemarle County. He will have copies of his book available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family History Conference,\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1941744881\">November 8, 2014<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CVGA will not meet in November. Instead the association will co-sponsor the\u00a0<strong>Family History Conference<\/strong>\u00a0which will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Airport Road.
